Sustainability Actions in Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Education plays an important role in developing experts, professionals and decision-makers for building a new, sustainable future. Finland has been recognized internationally as one of the world's leading countries in circular economy education.
In Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) sustainability actions are vital in many degree programs, individual study courses and in several projects. Various bio and circular economy projects cover from alternative raw materials to for example textile and food waste. The projects have been successfully collaborated between multidisciplinary teams from the education and company members. In addition to faculty members, students also have a lot to contribute to R&D activities. It's always amazing to see the motivation of the students and what they can achieve in projects. TAMK has a good reputation as a project partner both nationally and internationally. The target is to build an even stronger network with strategic higher education partners and companies to provide future experts the tools they need to build a sustainable future and new business.

Teachers for the Future – Experiences and Ideas.
Throughout the last ten years me and my team in Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) have travelled around the globe promoting the importance of teacher and school management trainings for the 21 st Century. During this expedition it became clear that independent of the level of the education in general the view how learning is organized and understood is mostly teacher centered and student passive. This model seems to be deeply rooted to our minds. Teachers for the Future as a topic will challenge our view of the role of the teacher and the student in the vital modern societies. We will steer our minds towards learning centeredness and active student orientation.
